History and Development
• 1978- Robert (Bob) Person founded Associated wine brokerage business
• 1980- Associated Wine & Spirits became incorporated
• 1981- West Virginia legislature passed a bill that allowed for the sale of wine in grocery stores. Bob began direct importation and distribution of wine throughout the state
• 1984- Standard distributing was incorporated to separate the brokerage for distribution
• 1985- Bob became a master supplier. A master supplier must be bonded to guarantee the state receives proper tax revenue from all wine being shipped into the state
• 1980-2006- Bob was responsible for listing many spirits brands in the state
• 2007- Alpha Spirits, a state wide spirits marketing company, is formed
